2023 Devil In The Dark

POSTPONED TILL 2024

Unfortunately we fell well short of the anticipated entries needed ahead of the Go/No-Go decision date, so the Devil in the Dark 12-Hour event has been postponed until 2024.

We recognize that the 2023 event was a late addition to the season schedule and calendar, resulting in an uphill struggle for both organizers and teams, and the shortfall on entries needed.

We will announce a 2024 date as soon as practical. We are focusing on options for a late season (October 2024) or early season (April 2024) event, and welcome your input.

While disappointing, the silver lining is that the event will now be run on a newly repaved-for-2024 Thunderbolt circuit, with the option of using either the classic configuration or one of the two new configurations offered.

We’d ask for your help in spreading the word about what the event offers. The 12-Hour FAQ covers the event’s history, details about the event, and the inclusive nature that allows us to bring together cars and competitors across sanctioning bodies.

It will be important that interested teams sign up early in the process once the 2024 event is announced and available for entries. Once again we will have a clearly communicated Go/No-Go decision date, and intent to run deposits for a 2024 event will NOT be charged until the “Go” decision is made. Therefore there is no risk to signing up early, and doing so lets the event organizers know that the interest and demand for the event is there.

The event planning team hopes to see you in 2024!

The Devil during the Day 6-Hour

presented by Ciocca Corvette

The Devil is POSTPONED!

August 4-5 at NJMP’s Thunderbolt Circuit.

Have you participated in The Charge of the Headlight Brigade at VIR, the 12 Hour at the Point at Summit Point or The Devil in the Dark at NJMP or you were a friend of these events? Our last endurance race was over four years ago.

Registration for the 2023 editions of The Devil in the Dark 12 Hour presented by Ciocca Corvette and The Devil during the Day 6 Hour are now open on MotorsportReg ( 2023 12 Hour Registration ). This year’s event is being held 4-5 August at NJMP’s Thunderbolt Circuit.

This classic test of drivers, cars and crews racing for 12 hours from day into night will have practice and qualifying on Friday, 4 August from 5-10pm. The race will begin at 11:45am on Saturday, 5 August and run until the checkered flag waves under the stars at 11:45pm.

The race operations and sporting regulations will use the traditional rules from our last 12 Hour contested in 2018. The draft Supplemental Regulations for this year are on the region website ( 2023 12 Hour Supps ).

The intent of the event is to accommodate production-based race cars and to accept licensed and experienced drivers from recognized sanctioning organizations. Cars from eligible closed-wheel classes – SCCA, SCCA Team Enduro, NASA, Porsche Club, BMW Club, AER, ChampCar, Lucky Dog and LeMons – will be grouped into five endurance classes for the event. In addition, there will be a class for SCCA Spec Racer. The classing structure has allowances for those who wish to run on 200+ treadwear street tires instead of DOT racing tires.

Entrants will be able to load-in during the day on Friday with Registration and Tech beginning at 1pm. Over four hours of track time will be available during the practice and qualifying sessions held between 5pm-10pm.

Garages will be made available free of charge when you enter on MSR on a first-come first-served basis. Garages will be offered to 12 Hour teams upon entering the event with 6-Hour teams invited to reserve garages as available June 1.
