Join the New Jersey Highlands Coalition’s Annual Fall Car Trek as we drive Shades of Death Road, visit one of New Jersey’s most famous ghost towns, and consider what may lurk beneath the placid surface of Lake Hopatcong. The New Jersey Highlands Coalition will host a “Haunted Highlands” Fall Car Trek on Sunday, October 27 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Great Meadows, NJ. This self-driving tour features spooky Shades of Death Road in Warren County, Lake Hopatcong in Morris County, and the infamous Clinton Road in Passaic County. The tour includes a stop at the Waterloo Village Historic Site in Stanhope and an optional stop at Main Lake Market on Lake Hopatcong. Along the way, drivers and their brave companions will learn some of the strangest tales from across the “Haunted Highlands”.
Cost is $35/vehicle. “Rain check” tickets are also available for people wishing to drive the route at a later date.
This is an untimed, non-competitive event. All proceeds benefit the Coalition’s ongoing conservation efforts to protect and preserve the natural and cultural resources of the beautiful New Jersey Highlands.
